Vic: Coroner to begin hearing DNA evidence

A Victorian coroner investigating the death of Moe toddler JAIDYN LESKIE will begin
hearing evidence from DNA experts today.

Experts who worked on the cases of American footballer OJ SIMPSON and jailed Australian
mother LINDY CHAMBERLAIN are among those who will be called to provide DNA evidence to
state coroner GRAEME JOHNSTONE.

The experts are expected to give evidence relating to female DNA found on JAIDYN's
bib which was later matched to a rape victim with no apparent connection to the case.

Professor BARRY BOETTCHER -- who helped LINDY CHAMBERLAIN get pardoned -- is among
those who have been called to give evidence.

American professor WILLIAM THOMPSON -- who helped OJ SIMPSON beat two murder charges
-- has also prepared a report on laboratory handling of DNA in the LESKIE case and is
expected to be called.

Professor THOMPSON has reportedly criticised the lab for failing to conduct all necessary
forensic tests on JAIDYN's bib and clothing.

The inquest before state coroner GRAEME JOHNSTONE continues today.
